Heathkit ET-3400, Better Than Investing In Gold?
Posted by: AceBHound on Sep 24th, 2011 10:15 AM
I've noticed the prices of Heathkit ET-3400's have seemed to double on eBay in the last 6-8 months. The ET-3400 is an old-school 6800 CPU training kit that was used in classrooms when the 6800 CPU was popular. I'm interested in picking one up at some point since many of the pinball machines from the 70s through the 90s used a 6802 or 6808 processor.

At this point it's looking like I should have bought a bunch of ET-3400's earlier this year as an investment! There were some perfectly working Heathkits going for $50-80, some even came with manuals. Recent eBay prices have them pushing $150-200 or more. Maybe there's a school somewhere buying them up for their classrooms or it's just a demand thing, but wow! Looks like I'll be waiting to pick one up till prices come back down.
