Wii Fit Demo at E3

Nintendo demonstrated a new fitness game, called Wii Fit, for the Wii game system this week at E3. The game controller consists of a balance board that measures weight and pressure. The Wii Fit game has more than 40 types of training activities that are meant to appeal to all ages. These activities include aerobic exercise, muscle conditioning, yoga poses and balance games.

I love that Nintendo seems to have set out from the beginning to create a console that would turn lazy activities into healthy activities. There has been a constant demand for more integration of exercise with video games, but up until now there has been very poor attempts at merging the two (aside from DDR). It gives Nintendo an absolute advantage over other consoles, and opens up their audience to health-conscious people and parents who want to pick the console that keeps their kids from becoming lazy and out of shape.
